Privacy
Privacy policy
This policy is for Genos Games (ABN 53 034 942 458), the game-server
hosting service at genosservers.com. It describes the information we
collect, how we use it, who we disclose it to, how that disclosure
happens, and the security practices we use to protect it. The
Terms of use cover billing and the service
contract.
Effective 16 September 2026.
What we collect
We collect what we need to run hosting and billing:
- Account identity from Clerk, usually a verified email address and a Clerk user ID.
- Billing details from Stripe: customer and subscription IDs, plan, invoices, payment status, and tax. We do not receive or store full card numbers.
- Service data you create: Server names, locations, Profiles, configuration, mods, saves you upload or export, join names, and console commands you send.
- Operational logs: request times, error codes, and runtime output needed to run and support a Server.
If you join our Discord, Discord collects that separately under its
own policy. We do not run a public support email or a marketing
newsletter.
How we use it
We use this information to:
- Create and authenticate your account.
- Take payment, issue invoices, apply tax, and run plan changes.
- Provision, start, stop, and support your Servers and Profiles.
- Detect abuse, debug failures, and keep the platform operating.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We disclose information to the processors who make the service work.
They receive only what that job requires:
- Clerk, for sign-in and session tokens.
- Stripe, for Checkout, subscriptions, invoices, tax, and the customer portal.
- Cloudflare, for join-hostname DNS.
- S3-compatible object storage, for temporary save and mod transfer files.
- Steam and the Factorio Mod Portal, when you search or install mods for those games.
- Our Australian hosting cluster, which runs the website and game Servers.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to stop
illegal use of a Server.
How we share it
Disclosure happens over HTTPS APIs when you sign in, pay, save a
Profile, transfer a save, or use a mod provider. Join names are
published as DNS records so players can connect. We do not post
customer lists, and we do not give processors a bulk export of
unrelated accounts.
Security
The site and APIs use TLS. Setup secrets are encrypted at rest before
they are stored. Card data stays with Stripe. Clerk issues session
tokens; our APIs accept a bearer token for your account only.
Temporary object-storage links expire. Access inside the hosting
cluster is limited to operating the service.
No method is perfect. Export any save you cannot lose, especially
before a Server leaves recovery.
How long we keep it
Account and Profile data stay while the account exists. After a
subscription ends, the Server is kept for seven days so you can
export or reactivate, then the Server is removed. Profiles stay in
your library. Billing records stay as long as tax and accounting
rules require. Operational logs are kept only as long as they are
useful for running the service.
Your choices
You can update account email in Clerk and payment methods in Stripe’s
customer portal. You can export or delete a Profile from the
dashboard where that action exists. Ask on Discord to export or
delete other account data we control. We may retain invoices and
other records the law requires.
You must be old enough to enter the
Terms of use in your sales market, or a parent
or guardian must accept them. We do not knowingly sell to children
below that age.
